Never one for understatement, the aptly named singer known as Meat Loaf (aka Marvin Lee Aday) teamed with operatically-minded pianist-composer Jim Steinman to produce a bombastic slab of 1970s classic rock that has become one of the biggest selling albums of all time.
People either hate Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell or absolutely just worship it. The episode begins with Jim Steinman, who wrote all of Bat Out of Hell‘s music and lyrics, sitting at the piano and bashing out the anthemic opening chords to the album’s title track. So says the Meat himself at the start of this episode of Classic Albums, the British documentary series known for deep diving into the most storied long players in music history. We then see Meat Loaf, predictably at the mixing desk and isolating his vocals, before singing along with them perfectly.

In 1976, when Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman were recording the seven epic songs with Todd Rundgren that would eventually turn out to be the Bat Out Of Hell album, they toyed with the notion of using an orchestra to bring the songs to life. Due to budget and sceduling constraints, however, the idea never came to fruition and they had to make do with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Anyways, Meat Loaf did do some songs I listened to later - their best songs "Two outta three aint bad"
"Paradise by the dashboard light" are on this video too certainly - interesting to hear these folks sound
more normal in person and off-stage than they appear revved up as on-stage and in costume and
in such expression as they show during their acts - which appealed to many at that time even -
and still does.
thanks for seeding this to your friends from that era
for a retrospective of sorts and the like
