A whole load of old un-released tracks and hidden gems from English rock legend David Bowie have been found leaked on the internet. At the beginning of the millennium, a good 11-12 years ago, Bowie had re-recorded, re-mastered, and re-written his old un-released and un-heard of tracks, with intentions of releasing the songs alongside brand new material for an album he would have called ‘Toy’. He had finished the album, but Virgin media, the label Bowie was signed to during that period, caused the album to dissolve and disappear without a release.

A number of the songs from Toy were included on Bowie’s 2002 album Heathen and as B-sides to its various singles, but a large portion of Toy still remained unreleased. but not through standard channels. Until now, that is. Sunday afternoon, a decade after its planned release, a 256 kbps quality torrent of the full-length album was leaked online. In 2001 David Bowie was writing a new album to follow Hours that was released in 1999, where he wanted to combine some reworked old and rare songs with new material. He finished recording it, called it Toy, scheduled for a 2001 release but stumbled upon an unforeseen roadblock from the EMI/Virgin labels. They have put the finished album on the backburner and it remained there since. However in 2011, 10 years after the supposed release of the album, Toy was leaked online in its entirety, so we all can listen to what we missed many years ago. Do you think it was the right decision not to go through the troubles of releasing those albums?
