AERO (Anthology of Electronic Revisited Originals) is a 2004 compilation album of tracks by electronic musician and composer Jean-Michel Jarre, re-recorded in . surround sound plus three new tracks. surround sound plus three new tracks (one of which, the title track "Aero", is actually a rework of "Je Me Souviens", from Jarre's 2000 album Métamorphoses, using the same main melody but with no vocals) and a bonus live track. All tracks are sewn together through surround-sound "Scenes". It was released by Warner Music on September 2004.

Virtual Surround is a technology which allows you to listen to music, watch movies, or play video games with surround effects using any set of two channel stereo headphones. I'm a big surround music fan and made this album so I can listen it in surround through headphones on a portable player. The sources of this release are the surround (DTS) tracks ripped from the DVD. I've converted them to virtual surround with Creative's BlasterX Acoustic Engine Pro. Using state-of-the-art technology, it gives an enhanced virtual 7.1 channel surround sound experience with regular stereo headphones.

It is composed of previously released tracks re-recorded in 5.1 surround sound plus three new tracks (one of which, the title track "Aero", is actually a rework of "Je Me Souviens", from Jarre's 2000 album Métamorphoses, using the same main melody but with no vocals).
"For AERO, I wanted to revisit in 5.1 some existing tracks in order to give them that space I had imagined when I originally composed them, and also to compose some new tracks for this new technology. All of the existing tracks in AERO have been performed with the original instruments, re-recorded and spatially arranged/spatialised for this new dimensional sound experience without betraying their very essence." - Jean-Michel Jarre, August 2004 (quote from sleeve).
Note: I've removed the scenes from this release so you can now listen to it like a regular album.
Why: They are a nice addition when you listen to the album the first few times, after that they get annoying.
